Start by soaking your plants in water to hydrate them. This helps reduce root damage during transplanting. Set the grow bag in your chosen spot, give it a gentle shake to loosen up the compost, and then cut drainage holes to ensure water flow and prevent waterlogging.

Next, cut slots or an opening in the front of the bag to reveal the compost – many grow bags come with handy pre-marked lines to make this step easier. Once opened, use a fork, trowel or your favourite hand tool to dislodge compressed compost. Create a hole, gently place the plant in the recessed area and cover the roots with fresh compost.
